Borivli Reforestation Drive

The planting of saplings at Borivli is supervised by Bombay Natural History Society and the first batch of 300 were saplings were planted on 17th June 2001. Volunteers are requested to contact Ms. Alka Vaidya (Tel. 4304691) for details of participation in the activity, undertaken every year before monsoon.
Besides the above activity, the City Forest Project is all about protecting Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Tungareshwar sanctuary by strong advocacy and lobbying. Some of the other activities are,
Active participation in wild life census conducted by the Forest Department of SGNP
Educational awareness programmes in the areas sensitive in terms of man animal conflict
Scat analysis of leopard to understand diet of leopard, and
Further documentation of encroachments in Tungareshwar Sanctuary and SGNP apart from the day-to-day conservation issues of the Park and Sanctuary.
